Pharmacology of Viodin Mouthwash 100 ml
Iodine and the organic polymer povidone combine to form povidone-iodine. Povidone iodine is preferable to regular elemental iodine because of its polymerization. Gradually releasing elemental iodine increases the duration of iodine's germicidal effect. As a result, it is less poisonous than elemental iodine. It exhibits quick microbicidal action against viruses, fungi, yeasts, and Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, protozoa, and viruses. Moreover, it is sporicidal. This wide range of activities in a microbicide is unique to it. In addition to being non-staining and having a prolonged germicidal effect, it is active in water, soap, mucous secretions, blood, serum, and pus.
Interaction of Viodin Mouthwash 100 ml
Strong alkali, sodium thiosulphate, sodium metabisulphite, and thiomersal interact with it. It has been demonstrated that use in conjunction with lithium medication produces a hypothyroidic impact.
Contraindications of Viodin Mouthwash 100 ml
Hypersensitivity reactions may result from it. Regular use should be avoided in people on lithium therapy or with thyroid problems (endemic goiter, nodular colloid goiter, and Hashimoto's thyroiditis). Because of the potential for hepatic and renal damage, serum iodide levels should be evaluated in patients with severe burns. Children under two years old and those with severe cavities should not take Viodin mouthwash 100 ml.
Dosages and Administration of Mouthwash 100 ml
Apply the cream or ointment once or twice a day or whenever you change your dressing to treat infections for a maximum of 14 days. Apply once or twice a week for as long as necessary to prevent infection. After cleaning and drying the afflicted area, a bandage or dressing can be applied. Solution: Paint, spray, or soak wet at full strength as needed. Perhaps wrapped (if needed). Mouthwash and gargle: For adults and kids older than six: Use either straight up or diluted with the same amount of warm water. Do not swallow while rinsing or gargling with up to 10 mL for 30 seconds. Repetition is permitted up to four times daily for 14 days or as directed by the licensed physician or dental surgeon.
Surgical Scrub: For Operating Personnel to Wash Before and After Surgery: water-dampened forearms and hands. Apply roughly 5 milliliters of Povidone Iodine Surgical Scrub to your palm and rub it all over your hands and forearms. Thoroughly rub the Scrub over all surfaces for approximately five minutes without adding extra water. Apply a brush if preferred. Undernails: completely clean. When you add a little water, lots of suds form, please rinse it well under running water. The wash will be finished by applying a final 5 mL of Povidone Iodine Surgical Scrub and cleaning the same manner. For use on patients before surgery: moisten the shaved region with water. Use one milliliter of Povidone Iodine Surgical Scrub (approximately 20 to 30 square inches), work up a lather, and scrub for five minutes or longer. Use sterile gauze soaked in water to help rinse off. When germicidal soap is needed, it is used to wash in doctor's offices.
Powder: Dust the afflicted area lightly with powder. This creates a barrier of antibacterial protection over the treated region when it dries. Or use as the licensed physician has prescribed. Children and elderly individuals do not require any specific dosage recommendations. Eye Care Resolution: One drop must be injected into the conjunctival sac four times a day or as needed, based on the severity of the condition.
Side Effects of Viodin Mouthwash 100 ml
Viodin mouthwash 100 ml may irritate mucous membranes and trigger hypersensitivity reactions. When povidone-iodine is applied to extensive skin-devoid areas or severe burns, it might have systemic adverse effects, including metabolic acidosis, hypernatraemia, and impaired renal function. It may also affect thyroid function tests.
Pregnancy & Lactation of Viodin Mouthwash 100 ml
Due to the possibility of absorbed iodine secreting into breast milk and crossing the placental barrier, pregnant or nursing women should refrain from using povidone-iodine regularly. While restricted use hasn't had any adverse effects, exercising caution and weighing the therapeutic benefit against any potential impacts on embryonic thyroid function and development from iodine absorption is still advisable. Pregnant or nursing mothers should not use povidone-iodine 1% Mouthwash Gargle for longer than 14 days.
